This is part of my 40 Before 40 Challenge.
My target here is for the number of my blood donations to catch up with my age. I’ve donated 22 times so far and you can donate four times a year, so getting to 40 is definitely doable in the next eight years.
As a serious point, giving blood saves lives, so I’d encourage every to donate if you can. There’s always a need for blood donors, especially if you have a rare blood type or you’re O-negative. If you’re in the UK, check out the blood donation website for more information.
My last donation was in Cambridge in August and I took part in a trial for “double dose donations”. It took a bit longer than usual, but it was still very straightforward, so I’d expect this to become more popular in the next few years. There’s an article on the website about it here.
